The personnel that make up our research group belong to different Areas of Engineering. We have been responsible for teaching the Postgraduate Degree of Expert in Remotely Piloted and Autonomous Aircraft at the University of Oviedo. We are currently collaborating on the Master’s Degree in Operations and Engineering of Unmanned Aerial Systems at the Universities of Santiago de Compostela and Vigo. Most of us have an Advanced RPA Pilot License, with ratings in all Multirotor categories regulated by the AESA and up to 5 kg in fixed wing RPAs. One of the team members is also a ULM pilot (Ultralight Motorized – Two-seat sports aircraft with a maximum takeoff weight of less than 450 kg).
Some of us have experience in electrical modeling since the first DC motors and ferrite magnets powered by NiCad batteries appeared until today. Regarding propulsion systems, we have Professors of Electrical Machines and Professors of Electronics, both in Power Electronics and Digital Electronics and Microprocessors. A group from our Department has been researching Energy Storage Systems for two decades. Since 2017 we have started a line of research in the field of supercapacitors.
